On December 20 the President of the RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan received the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Silvia-Maria Zehe in connection with the completion of her mission in Armenia.

The NA President thanked Ms Zehe for cooperation and the work done, noting that from 2008 she had promoted the implementation of the programmes of the Council of Europe in Armenia, having contribution to the process of democracy, human rights and reforms in other spheres.

The CoE Special Representative of the Secretary General has noted that she highly appreciates the cooperation between the Council of Europe and the RA National Assembly, assessing it excellent and effective. In her word, during these years the Armenian Parliament has passed a number of important laws, which promoted the strengthening and deepening of democracy in the RA, particularly, the Electoral Code, the law “On Mass Media” and other laws. She has also highlighted the PACE-NA cooperation, noting that the NA Delegation to PACE carries out productive and constructive activity.

In the course of the meeting the interlocutors touched upon other issues of bilateral interest.
