On February 2 the members of the Armenia-Bahrain Friendship Group of the RA National Assembly met with the Bahrain-Armenia Friendship Group Delegation of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Welcoming the guests’ visit to Armenia, the Head of the NA RA-Bahrain Friendship Group Galust Sahakyan highlighted the further enlivening of the inter-parliamentary relations in deepening of relations between the two countries and peoples and expressed hope that the delegation’s current visit would be a new impetus for the effective cooperation.

Both sides presented the parliaments’ activity, the existing inner-political and economic situation and highlighted the implementation of the joint programmes.

Touching upon the presidential elections going on in Armenia Galust Sahakyan noted that the political forces and authorities were resolute in order to hold free, fair and transparent elections.

Presenting the problem of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Head of the Friendship Group has noted that the Armenian side defends the solution of the problem through peaceful negotiations , which Azerbaijan impedes with its bellicose posture and its policy of heroizing murderer Safarovs.

Referring to the regional problems Galust Sahakyan also presented the Armenian-Turkish relations, noting that the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey would essentially soften the tension in the whole region. The international progressive community also expects that.

Thanking for the warm reception the Head of the Bahrain-Armenia Friendship Group Delegation Hassan Eyad Bu Khamas highlighted the development of the relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, sharing the Armenian colleagues’ view that the role of inter-parliamentary cooperation was also big. He deemed expedient the enlivening of contacts at different levels between the two countries, which would also promote the activation in the spheres of business, culture, tourism and in many other fields.

Both sides also discussed other issues of bilateral interest, and the other members taking part in the meeting of the friendship groups also presented their views.
