On July 4 Eduard Sharmazanov, the Vice President of the National Assembly, Armenia-Lithuania Parliamentary Friendship Group received Erikas Petrikas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Armenia.

In the course of the meeting the sides discussed issues regarding the further development of the political, economic and cultural ties of the two countries inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Touching upon the balanced foreign policy of Armenia which has taken the path of democracy, the NA Vice President has assured that the European integration has been and remains one of the priorities of our country. He has expressed hope that Lithuania, as EU member, and recently also a country, which assumed the presidency in that structure, will support Armenia on the way to European integration. Eduard Sharmazanov also acquainted the Ambassador with the policy pursued by Armenia aimed at the regional security, and in particular, he talked about Armenia’s endeavours of solving the NK problem exclusively through negotiations and the inadmissibility of the Turkish policy of blockading Armenia.

Highly assessing the policy of regional stability pursued by Armenia and of peaceful co-existence, Ambassador Erikas Petrikas has supported Armenia’s efforts of solving the problems through peaceful negotiations. He has also welcomed the consistency of Armenia in European integration and the implementation of democratic reforms and has assured that his country is ready to support Armenia in overcoming the difficulties facing Armenia on that path.

During the meeting the sides also discussed other issues of bilateral interest.
