On September 11 the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan met with Ilmars Solims, Adviser on EU Approximation and Administration of the EU Advisory Group to the RA and Jose Mari Extebarria and Denis Badre, members of the European Democratic Party and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).

The Committee Chair Naira Zohrabyan discussed with the European guests the situation created after the decision of joining the Customs Union, noting that despite the certain problems we have, our country highlights the cooperation with the European Union and the continuity of dialogue in different directions, and Armenia wishes to take part in the Vilnius Summit. Touching upon the relations with Russia the Committee Chair noted that we should not forget that Russia is the strategic ally of Armenia, and the relations with Russia and the EU should be balanced. To her conviction we should not forget that Armenia has a problem of Nagorno Karabakh, which is of vital issue for the Armenian people, in terms of this, our country cannot go to compromises. To Naira Zohrabyan’s assessment, taking into account all this, we should be able to correctly build the relations both with Russia and the EU.

In the course of the meeting issues concerning the inter-party cooperation were also discussed.
