On October 19 the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan took part in the blessing ceremony of Haghartsin Reconstruction Monastery Complex, which attended the Armenian clergymen led by the Supreme Patriarch, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, deputies, members of the Government, guests form different marzes of Armenia and foreign countries.

To recap, numerous restoration works have been done through centuries in Haghartsin Monastery Complex. The last reconstruction works refer to the 50s of the last century. At the end of the 60s and beginning of the 70s several structures of the Monastery Complex have been partially restored. Today the reconstruction, which had begun from 2008, had been done, including almost all structures of the Complex. The complete programme of Haghartsin Restoration and Reconstruction Monastery Complex has been implemented by the sponsorship of the member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ruler of Sharzha emirate, Sheikh Doctor Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, who had invested about 5mln USD for this purpose. The Religious Complex has been reconstructed, taking as a basis the architectural details existing before that.

The RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan, the Supreme Patriarch and others welcomed the attendees. By the decree of the RA President Serzh Sargsyan Hamid Dila Jafari was awarded Anania Shirakatsi Medal for the significant contribution to strengthening economic relations between Armenia and the UAE. By other decree of President Sargsyan the Ruler of the Sharzha of the UAE Supreme Council, Sheikh Doctor Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi was awarded the Medal of Honour. The NA President Hovik Abrahamyan handed over the state high awards.

In Haghartsin School the Head of the Parliament also studied the old photos of the monastery. And at the end of the event the little ones welcomed those present with dancing and sharakans (medieval religious songs).
