On March 24 in the hall adjacent to the Session Hall of the National Assembly exhibition of the paintings was opened, which had initiated Shirak Compatriot Union NGO. The NA President Hovik Abrahamyan, the NA Vice Presidents, deputies and painters attended the opening of the exhibition. About 50 paintings were presented in the exhibition.

The Chairman of the Shirak Compatriot Union NGO Varazdat Avoyan thanked the NA President for supporting the organization of the exhibition and highlighted the holding of the exhibition in the RA National Assembly. He has noted that the exhibition is charitable, and the sum received from the sale of the paintings will be allocated for the restoration of Gyumri S. Merkurov Fine Arts School. It is a hundred-year old Fine Arts School, where the well-known artists of Gyumri have studied.

Welcoming the holding of the exhibition in the National Assembly Samvel Sevada has mentioned that the school which has taught numerous famous painters in the past today has been left in oblivion, and it needs help.

The NA Vice President Hermine Naghdalyan has noted that the cultural breath of Gyumri is soaring in the hall and has called on to support the restoration of the Fine Arts School. She emphasized the continuity of the valuable traditions of the school, taking into consideration the role of the educational centre in the generations’ education.

The paintings will be shown in the National Assembly on March 24-28.
