On May 23 the NA Vice President, Head of Armenia-Latvia Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov met with Elita Gavele, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Armenia.
In the course of the meeting both sides discussed issues relating to the further development of the Armenian-Latvian relations and deepening of inter-parliamentary relations.
Eduard Sharmazanov positively assessed the level of mutual trust created between the two countries and expressed hope that in case of using effectively the existing opportunities greater success could be recorded in the inter-state relations. In the activation of the inter-parliamentary cooperation he highlighted the active contacts of the Friendship Groups and the joint discussions in different formats.
Elita Gavele, Ambassador of Latvia, has underlined that Armenia has been and remains the friendly country for Latvia. The cooperation with Armenia Latvia develops not only in bilateral format, but also within the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership, and irrespective of Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union, they will continue their active cooperation with it.
During the meeting other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
