On October 7 the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Elinar Vardanyan met with the representatives of the Zeytun Disabled Children’s parents NGO.

Welcoming the guests Elinar Vardanyan has highlighted the activity of the organization, noting that the children with disabilities represent the vulnerable layer of the society, and their problems have always been at the centre of attention of the state and community. She has noted that the Committee consults with different NGOs and takes into consideration their recommendations in the legislative work.

The NGO representatives have raised issues relating to the solution of the disabled children’s social problems, the provision of professional education, their parents’ employment, the organization of care towards children with disabilities or mentally disabled children, have touched upon the provisions of the draft law “On Protection of the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities and Social Inclusion,” and have made numerous proposals directed to the regulation of the sphere.

At the end of the meeting Elinar Vardanyan has noted that the Committee within its authorities will be consistent for the solution of the raised problems, will submit recommendations, which will be aimed at the improvement of the laws concerning the sphere.
