On October 3 the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration moderated by Naira Zohrabyan convened a broadened sitting to discuss the agenda of the RA-EU further cooperation. The Working Group on Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the EU Council, which is in Armenia with fact finding mission for presenting the problems on the further agenda of the RA-EU relations to the EU Council.
At the sitting Naira Zohrabyan has highlighted the main issues, which are necessary to be the key ones of the new agenda of the RA-EU future dialogue. She has also talked about the series of problems, which relate to the corruption, the protection of human rights, democracy, the reforms of the justice system, which to Mrs Zohrabyan’s conviction, should remain on the agenda of the RA-EU dialogue. By the Committee Chair’s assessment, talking about the economic integration with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the European Union (EU) we may enumerate numerous dividing lines, however in Naira Zohrabyan’s word, we should move on the way of finding common points of cooperation, which are available.
Petteri Vuorimaki, the Head of the Working Group on Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the EU Council, has noted in his word that Armenia is an important counterpart for the EU and has expressed hope that the RA-EU mutual cooperation will further develop and deepen.
The representatives of the the RPA, the PAP, the ANC, the Rule of Law and the Heritage Factions represented in the parliament have expressed their viewpoints on the coming legal document regulating the RA-EU relations and have highlighted the continuity of the RA-EU dialogue. At the sitting the issue of comparing the economic regimes of the EEU and the EU has been discussed. It has been noted that Armenia is ready to sign the political component of the Association Agreement. The necessity of showing an individual approach towards Armenia by the EU in the RA-EU relations has been highlighted.
