At the Sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations

On November 19 the next sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations moderated by Artak Zakaryan was held.

Before passing to the debate of the agenda draft laws the Committee made a decision on November 24, at 12:00 hold parliamentary hearings on the theme “On the Treaty of May 29, 2014 on the Accession of the Republic of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union” jointly with the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs at the NA Session Hall.

Then the deputies debated the package of bills “On Condemning the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks, Assyrians, Yezids and Other Nations in the Ottoman Empire” and “On Amending the RA Law on Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia” authored by the RA NA deputy Zaruhi Postanjyan. The author proposes to establish December 9 in the RA law “On Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia” as a memorial day of the victims of the genocide of the Pontic Greeks, Assyrians, Yezids and other nations in the Ottoman Empire, as well as condemn the genocide of the abovementioned nations.

The members of the Committee expressed viewpoints on the package under debate.

The Committee made a decision to continue the sitting on November 20 at 9:30 a.m.
