On November 20 the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Germany Friendship Group Artak Davtyan and the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee Artak Zakaryan met with the delegation led by the deputy of the German Bundestag Klaus-Peter Flosbach. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of FRG to the RA Reiner Morell attended the meeting.

Klaus-Peter Flosbach noted that they have visited Armenia to choose the participants of the International Parliamentary Scholarship programme. The programme functions in Armenia since 1998 and gives opportunity the students of Armenia to have experience in the German Bundestag. The deputy of Bundestag informed the attendees that the day before they had already chosen 3 participants from Armenia.

Welcoming the guests in the parliament the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Germany Friendship Group Artak Davtyan has highlighted the implementation of such programmes in terms of the development of the Armenian-German scientific-educational ties, noting that today one German student passes practice in the RA National Assembly.

Talking about bilateral relations, the Armenian parliamentarians have highly assessed the support shown by Germany in different spheres during the past twenty years. The parties expressed readiness to promote the further deepening of the Armenian-German parliamentary relations.

During the meeting Artak Zakaryan talked about a number of peculiarities of the foreign policy being pursued by Armenia, the Nagorno Karabakh problem, the inadmissibility of the borderline incidents and the deconstructive actions of Azerbaijan.

Touching upon the Centennial of the Armneian Genocide, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee highlighted the foreign MPs' moral support and participation in the April memorial events, expressing hope that a representation delegation will also be from Bundestag. According to Artak Zakaryan, the condemnation of genocides is an important step for preventing them and not allowing grave crimes directed to mankind.

The Armenian and German parliamentarians also discussed other issues of bilateral interests.
