On December 8 the members of the RA NA Armenia-Uruguay Friendship Group met with Danilo Astori, the Vice President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, the President of the Senate. Welcoming the guest the Head of the Friendship Group Sukias Avetisyan has noted that the relations of the two countries have firm bases and has added that the Armenian people are grateful to Uruguay for being the first country recognizing the Armenian Genocide in 1965: many countries of the world have followed the example of Uruguay and have recognized the Armenian Genocide.

Mr Avetisyan highlighted the development and deepening of the inter-state and inter-parliamentary relations, and recorded with satisfaction the cooperation of the two countries in the international instances, particularly during the voting of the resolutions.

Deeming necessary the economic cooperation between the two countries the Head of the Friendship Group Sukias Avetisyan underlined that we should activate the ties, especially in the sphere of tourism, taking into consideration the progress and experience of Uruguay in that sphere.

The Vice President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Danilo Astori thanked Mr Avetisyan for hospitality and emphasized the role of the Friendship Group in the strengthening of bilateral relations. Danilo Astori also noted the necessity of more strengthening and developing the cooperation of the Friendship Group, activating the mutual visits and holding joint discussions.
