On December 24 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan visited Gavar orphanage of the RA Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The NA speaker was accompanied by the Governer of Gegharkunik Rafik Grigoryan and the director of the orphanage Nikolay Nalbandyan.

The orphans and the staff of the orphanage met the Head of the legislative body with great fanfare and warmth.

Making a tour in the orphanage, Galust Sahakyan spoke with the orphans and staff of the orphanage in a direct atmosphere, got acquainted with the conditions of the latters’ living. 

He entered the orphans’ bedrooms, game room, class, library and canteen, getting acquainted with the menu.

The NA Speaker attended also carpet weaving class, where the orphans presented their embroideries, carpets and tapestries.

Orphanage director Nikolay Nalbandyan has noted that there live 61 orphans in the orphanage, 50 of which learn in public schools, 3 of them at Gavar State University and added with pride that 5 boys serve in the Armenian Army. The Director also emphasized, that 21 orphans were adopted from the orphanage during the year 2014.

The orphans have prepared a New Year symbolic play for the NA President and those present with great expectation and excitement. The symbol of the holiday, Santa Clause, who distributed presents brought by the NA Speaker, concluded the orphans’ joyful mood and the excitement of those present. 

The RA NA president Galust Sahakyan, congratulating on the coming New Year and Holy Nativity, wished those present good health and fulfillment of dreams.

According to the words of the Head of the parliament, it is certainly welcome that the orphanage has good conditions and provides family warmth for the children. At the end of the meeting the orphans gave their embroideries to the NA Speaker as presents.
