1 / 3

On February 25 the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received the members of the Yezid community in Armenia Hamlet Smoyan, Boris Tamoyan, Rustam Bakoyan, Sashik Sultanyan and Mame Amiryan.

At the meeting the key issue has been the condemnation of the crimes committed against different nations.

The NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov once again condemned the mass violence perpetrated several months ago against the Yezid people in Northern Iraq, noticing that the RA President Serzh Sargsyan talked about that from the UN high tribune and denounced the occurred violence. The members of the Yezid community in their turn highly appreciated the President’s speech in the UN General Assembly.

During the debate an agreement has been reached to organize a photo exhibition at the RA National Assembly in future, which will present the mass violence perpetrated against the Yezid people in Northern Iraq. Besides, a working group will be created which will be involved with the study of violence perpetrated in different times towards the Yezids and historical facts.

In the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov’s word, from the year 2015 a new phase of condemnation of genocides begins.
