On April 3 the Head of the PAP Faction Naira Zohrabyan, the PAP Women’s Wing, the PAP women representatives of the Youth Parliament met with Meg Munn, the OSCE expert on Gender Issues, the Great Britain’s former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the former Minister for Women and Equality Issues, and Kateryna Ryabiko, Expert on OSCE/ODIHR Democratic Governance and Gender Issues. Jemma Hasratyan, Chair of the Association of Women with University Education, attended the meeting.
Welcoming the guests, Mrs Zohrabyan has noted that in the Prosperous Armenia Party active women, who play great role in the party work, prevail. The Head of the Faction has underlined that among a series of amendments to the Electoral Code they will submit recommendations on the accurate and effective investment of the mechanism of gender quotas, as well as the increase of financing of the parties by the state.
Kateryna Ryabiko has noted that within the framework of the women’s participation in the political processes and opportunities of their advancement they have already been cooperating with the PAP Faction the second year. She has highlighted the organization of the courses for the party women.
Meg Munn presented her approaches on the women’s participation in gender equality and political processes. She has emphasized the women’s role in the legislative work, in the formation of the parties’ policy and strengthening of the inner-party democracy.
The participants of the meeting also presented their viewpoints and made recommendations. They have spotlighted the implementation of the relevant programmes and events for the rise of the women’s activeness in the politics.
