Galust Sahakyan Receives the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament

On April 25 the RA NA Speaker received Zoi Konstantopoulou, the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, who had visited Armenia to take part in the commemoration events.

Galust Sahakyan thanked the guest for participating in the commemoration events, and the Hellenic Parliament for adopting the bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide deinal just in time.

Talking about the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, the Speaker of the National Assembly noted that the unprecedented events occurred in Yerevan on April 24 was the first in the world by its volume: it promotes the international process of the recognition of genocides.

Galust Sahakyan has noted that in the international recognition and condemnation of genocides the Armenians and Greeks, as ancient nations, have their share of responsibility. The NA Speaker has added with pain that today the politics and the political interests in the world are classified higher than the civilization. Galust Sahakyan has stated that our countries have substantial ties: they cooperate at international platforms, in the educational and military spheres. He has expressed hope that the relations between the parliaments of Armenia and Greece will also enliven and develop.

Speaking about the hard economic situation in Greece, Galust Sahakyan wished the friendly Greek people welfare and economic stability.

Thanking for the reception Zoi Konstantopoulou has noted that they consider as their duty to be next to the Armenians during these days of historical events. She has stated that the Armenian Genocide is one of the darkest pages of the history, as that crime has been committed against mankind, and it should be recognized by the whole world. The Head of the Hellenic Parliament has documented that Greece will continue to support Armenia in the international process of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Zoi Konstantopoulou invited the Speaker of the National Assembly to Greece: the invitation was gladly accepted.
