On April 25 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan met with the members of the Organization the Democrat Youth Community of Europe, DEMYC, representing youth wings of the parties of about 50 countries. The NA deputy Karen Avagyan attended the meeting.

Let us note that the executive body of the organization adopted a statement condemning the Armenian Genocide. Let us inform that the RPA Youth Organization is the full member of this European structure, and the RPA representative is the Vice Chairman of the DEMYC since 2005.

Welcoming the attendees, the NA Speaker thanked the European delegates for being in Armenia during these days and taking part in the events of the Armenian Genocide Centennial. The Head of the Parliament has welcomed the fact that the DEMYC youth wing actively cooperates with the youth of Armenia. In the NA Speaker’s opinion, the youth should promote the peoples’ peace and consolidation.

Talking about genocides Galust Sahakyan has highlighted the recognition and condemnation of genocides by the international community, as not acknowledging them can become a basis of new genocides, which today is noticeable in different parts of the world.

The NA Speaker highlighted the role of the youth and use of their ideas in the political processes of their countries.

The NA Speaker also answered the questions concerning the youth which related to the further works of the RA NA in the process of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the cooperation between the parliaments of different countries, particularly the activities of the Friendship Groups.

In the name of the attendees Javier Hurtado Mira, the Chairman of the Organization the Democrat Youth Community of Europe, thanked the NA Speaker for receiving them and noted that from now on by remembering and demanding they would be “the Ambassadors of Armenia” in their countries.
