On May 13 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations received Richard Mills, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States to Armenia.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Artak Zakaryan highlighted the development of the relations with the House of Representatives and the Senate of the United States and the implementation of the cooperation programs. Artak Zakaryan has underlined that the Committee has highlighted and highlights the deepening of Armenia’s friendly relations with the United States, especially in the trade-economic and investment spheres. Mr Zakaryan has noted that the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement signed during the RA President’s visit to the USA created new opportunities in different spheres of the Armenian-American economic cooperation, boosting the investment programs.
The Chairman of the NA Standing Committee has also talked about social, humanitarian and other programs being implemented by the United States in Armenia.
Thanking Artak Zakaryan for the reception, the U.S. Ambassador has stated that the United States continues to remain Armenia’s faithful and stable counterpart, especially for the Armenian-American partnership. The goal of the United States is to see free, welfare and peacefully co-existing Armenia with the neighbors. Richard Mills expressed willingness to support the strengthening of the Armenian-American inter-parliamentary relations and the implementation of the upcoming joint programs.
The interlocutors also exchanged thoughts about the situation in the region.
