On June 17 the NA Deputy Speaker, the Co-Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus received Stepan Sukhorenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Armenia.

In the course of the meeting issues relating to the development of inter-parliamentary relations, the cooperation at different international platforms, the political and economic ties of two countries were discussed. The sides also considered issues regarding the formation of the agenda of the 9^th sitting of the Inter-parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to be held in Minsk in the coming months, the cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the events dedicated to the 70^th anniversary of Victory of the Great Patriotic War.

In this context the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov noted that the advanced countries should unite their efforts to struggle against terrorism, fascism and xenophobia to prevent such phenomena in the 21^st century. Touching upon the issues of regional security, the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov highlighted the peaceful settlement of the NK problem, expecting the balanced position of the CSTO member countries in that issue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
