On September 17 the member of the RA NA RPA Faction Margarit Yesayan, the member of the PAP Faction Vahan Babayan and the Secretary of the Rule of Law Faction Mher Shahgeldyan met with Cornelia Perler, Adviser of the General Directorate on Democracy of the Council of Europe.

Mrs Perlet, thanking for the meeting, has informed that the General Directorate on the CoE Democracy at different levels is engaged in showing support to concerned sides in electoral processes, thus with that purpose there were meetings and are expected both with political parties and concerned organizations. The guest has informed that the organization is also interested in the women’s involvement and participation in electoral processes.

The member of the RPA Faction Margarit Yesayan has informed that Armenia being a bearer and propagator of European values, actively cooperates with European different structures, and emphasizes that effective cooperation. Talking about democracy Margarit Yesayan has stated that in the coming November parliamentary elections will take place in Azerbaijan, where with observation mission many European structures, among them the OSCE/ODIHR refused to take part, as the OSCE many MPs who had even paid a private visit, were in the NKR, appeared on the “black list” of Azerbaijan. Margarit Yesayan has noted that only the PACE will take part in those elections with observation mission, beforehand presenting a list of the participants to the Azerbaijani authorities. Mrs Yesayan considered necessary that some European international structures would refuse applying double standards.

The member of the Prosperous Armenia Faction Vahan Babayan submitted a series of recommendations with the purpose of more constructive cooperation which, according to him, will promote to organize and hold the electoral processes more effective.

The Secretary of the Rule of Law Mher Shahgeldyan touched upon the process of constitutional reforms, talked about the recommendations submitted by the Faction and expressed readiness for cooperation.

At the meeting the sides also touched upon the financial transparency of the parties, the process of constitutional reforms, the women’s representation in the parties and in the NA factions, the reports of the observation missions and the implementation of their assignments, etc.

Summing up the meeting both sides expressed willingness to continue the cooperation at practical plane.
