On September 29 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan received Mohammad Raiesi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the RA, who is going to complete of his diplomatic mission in Armenia.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Artak Zakaryan highly assessed his work done in developing the relations between the parliaments. Talking about the inter-parliamentary relations, the Committee Chairman highlighted the deepening of cooperation with the Iranian Majlis, as well as underlined the necessity of reaching the parliamentary ties to a new level. According to Artak Zakaryan, in the modern world the parliaments gradually assume an important role in security and cooperation. Artak Zakaryan wished the Ambassador further successes.
Thanking for the warm words and reception the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the RA also highlighted the further development of the bilateral relations, the activities of the parliamentary friendship groups. He expressed satisfaction to Artak Zakaryan for promoting the development of cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries and warm attitude shown during the years of his tenure and assured that he will always remain the Armenian people’s friend.
During the meeting the sides also touched upon the regional problems. Artak Zakaryan emphasized the balanced position of the Iranian authorities related to the regional problems, particularly the Karabakh conflict.
