On November 17 the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs visited Yerevan Senior Schools to get acquainted with the works on military-patriotic upbringing and teaching of the “Initial Military Training (IMT)” subject.
The Committee Chairman Koryun Nahapetyan visited Yerevan Gevorg Emin School N 182, where accompanied by the principal and the military head of the school took a tour, getting familiarized with the conditions of the class of the IMT subject and the logistics of pre-conscription trainings. Afterwards Koryun Nahapetyan met with the pupils of 10th and 11th forms, debated the teaching of the IMT subject and issues regarding the military service. The Committee Chairman also answered the teachers’ and the pupils’ questions, which related to the Armenian Army, the soldiers’ physical readiness, the legislative regulations of the military service, officer-soldier relations, the security challenges of Armenia and the world.
On the same day the member of the Committee Tevan Poghosyan visited Yerevan Manuel Kajuni Senior School N 54.
First, Tevan Poghosyan met with the principal of the school, discussed problems regarding the teaching of the IMT subject, after that got acquainted with the conditions of the class of the IMT subject, fitment and educational materials. During the talk the principal and the military head raised the issues concerning the increase of hours of the IMT subject, the creation of simulators and shooting-range.
Afterwards there was a meeting with the pupils in the school hall. Tevan Poghosyan noted that the goal of the visit was to get familiarized with the issues of the IMT subject teaching and military-patriotic upbringing on the spot. During the talk the NA deputy tried to understand the problems concerning the pupils through the Q & A session, touched upon the issues regarding the pupils’ visit to the military units, emergency management, the organization of the first aid courses etc.
At the end of the meeting Tevan Poghosyan urged the pupils to be purposeful and to study well.
