On December 16 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan and the Committee members Karine Poghosyan, Karine Atshemyan, Ruzanna Muradyan met with UNESCO Expert Manja Klemenčič, who was accompanied by the RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science Karine Harutyunyan.
Welcoming the guest in the National Assembly, Artak Davtyan highlighted the cooperation with the international experts and noted that by the decision of the RA Government, the professions of the RA Higher Educational Institutions were corresponded with UNESCO classification, which is the first step on the way of preparing high qualified specialists with higher education. He has opined that the international experts’ support is very useful to reach that goal.
The Deputy Chair of the Committee Karine Poghosyan expressed hope that the cooperation with the international experts would promote the implementation of the 10-year Education Development Programme. She emphasized all the provisions which were laid in the basis of the “Educational State Programme for 2016-2025” and will contribute to the activities of the higher educational institutions.
The Committee member Karine Atshemyan has noted that the legislative field in Armenia is complied with the European standards, however still there are problems which need to be solved. As a prior problem the deputy distinguished the issue of the establishment of the senior schools. In her word, the solution of that problem will boost the improvement of the higher education.
The MP Ruzanna Muradyan has noted that the involvement of the international experts in the educational system is very important in terms of exchange of experience. She has also highlighted the practice that it is of prior importance for the reforms underway in the sphere of higher education. In Mrs Muradyan’s remarks, it is also very important to clarify what specialists we should need, what programme should be implemented, how to organize the practice, etc.
Manja Klemenčič thanked for the warm reception. She informed that she got acquainted with the RA Law “On Education,” as well as “On the Educational State Programme for 2016-2025.” The expert expressed hope that with the programme under debate the weak sides of the educational sphere. She considered wrong the replication” it is necessary to create corresponding programme to the given country for having effective programme. In that context, however, the expert has noted there are problems, which are characteristic to a number of countries.
In the course of the meeting other issues regarding the sphere of education were also discussed.
