On April 4, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan received the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset of the State of Israel, the Head of Israel-Armenia Friendship Group Tali Ploskov and the members of the delegation led by her.
Welcoming the guests, the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan expressed confidence that the visit of the parliamentarians of the Knesset will be effective for the further development and deepening of the Armenian-Israeli relations. Mrs Naghdalyan especially highlighted the inter-parliamentary cooperation, in that context reserved significant role to the Friendship Groups. In the NA Deputy Speaker's word, the two countries have a big potential of cooperation in such various fields as the trade-economic, cultural, agricultural spheres, the civil aviation and tourism.
The NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan highly assessed the contribution of Israel to the recognition of genocides and prevention of their repetition and emphasized the developments related to the discussion of the Armenian Genocide issue. Hermine Naghdalyan expressed hope that the Knesset’s response will be weighty in that respect. The NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan thanked Israel's government for taking part in the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial and expressed hope that the Israeli Delegation will take part in the Global Forum “Against Genocide as a Crime.”
In the course of meeting both parties touched upon the current hard situation for the Armenian people. Referring to the issue of the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Hermine Naghdalyan voiced about Azerbaijan’s terrorist and aggressive policy, which had been escalated during recent days. The NA Deputy Speaker in this context highlighted the intervention of the international community and expressed hope that Israel, as a state fighting against terror, will support Armenia.
In her turn the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset of the State of Israel thanked her colleague for the warm reception and also highlighted the necessity of the rapprochement of the inter-parliamentary ties, as well as the active cooperation in different spheres. She has informed that during her visit numerous meetings took place, as a result of which concrete programmes had been outlined aimed at the establishment and strengthening of the business relations. Mrs Ploskov considered necessary to unite efforts and struggle together for the prevention of genocides.
Touching upon the events on Karabakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact Tali Ploskov expressed her support to the Armenian people and strongly condemned Azerbaijan’s actions, qualifying them as terrorism directed to the whole region. Sharing the Armenian people’s concern, the Deputy Speaker expressed her readiness to jointly voice about the created inadmissible situation and called on Azerbaijan to stop the policy going nowhere.
