On April 27, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood Ara Babloyan received the Regional Director of World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab.

The members of the NA Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood Lyudmila Sargsyan and Manvel Badeyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Healthcare Sergey Khachatryan attended the meeting.

Zsuzsanna Jakab presented the new Head of the WHO Armenia Office Yegor Zaytsev.

Thanking Zsuzsanna Jakab for visiting Armenia Ara Babloyan touched upon the healthcare prior programmes in our country and the achievements recorded in recent years.

Zsuzsanna Jakab touched upon the successes that Armenia registered in the sphere of vaccination, fight against non-infectious diseases, tuberculosis, prevention of AIDS/HIV and other illnesses.

At the meeting the sides also discussed the national strategy being carried out in fighting the cigarette, and the package of the draft law on Medicine and the enclosed laws being debated in the National Assembly at present.

Ara Babloyan referred to the problems of the mother and child health maintenance, the steps directed to the fight against infectious diseases and prevention of non-infectious diseases, the RA draft law on Encouraging the Children’s Breastfeeding and Turnover of the Children’s Food.

At the end of the meeting the Head of the Regional Director for Europe noted that WHO will continue the cooperation with Armenia by supporting the healthcare system of our country.
