On May 16, at the sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs moderated by Hovhannes Sahakyan the RA Draft Electoral Code (EC) authored by the RA Government was debated in the second reading with the package of the enclosed draft laws.

The key speaker, the Minister-Chief of Staff of the RA Government Davit Harutyunyan has informed that in the co-package of the EC an amendment was made to the RA law on Public Services.

By the Committee members’ decision a special procedure was passed for the debate of the package of the RA Draft Electoral Code and the enclosed draft laws.

The RA Draft Electoral Code with the package of the enclosed draft laws was endorsed and will be included in the draft law of the agenda of May 16-19 four-day sittings.

By the Committee members’ decision the third reading of the draft law on Probation State Service will be organized within 24 hours after the second reading.

On the same day at the sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations moderated by Artak Zakaryan the bill on Recognition of Artsakh Republic authored by the NA deputies Zaruhi Postanjyan and Hrant Bagratyan was debated.

The MP Zaruhi Postanjyan introduced the purposefulness of the bill.

The RA Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan presented the view of the RA Government on the bill.

The NA Deputies delivered speeches on the bill, speaking about the expediency of the recognition of the Artsakh Republic at this moment, presented their positions on the initiative. A recommendation was made to organize a closed-door debate on the theme in the Committee in future, which the Committee Chairman Artak Zakaryan welcomed.

The bill was not endorsed at the sitting.
