On September 8, the staff representatives of the Budget Office met with the newly appointed Head of the Armenian Team of the GIZ Public Financial Management in the South Caucasus Programme Christian Doering.
Coordinator-Expert of the Budget Office Gagik Barseghyan welcomed and congratulated Christian Doering on his appointment and wished him fruitful work. He touched upon, in particular, the enhancement of the role of the parliament after the constitutional amendments, presented the necessary toolkit for that mission, noting that the establishment of the Budget Office is one of the most important supporting tools to effectively implement parliamentary surveillance.
Issues concerning the Budget Office activities were discussed during the working meeting, the Office’s objectives and problems, further steps and the GIZ support to that were introduced. The continuation of cooperation between the Budget Office and the GIZ was highlighted.
Gagik Barseghyan electronically presented the legal bases for the formation of the Budget Office and its functions, activities and strategy, objectives and problems, and steps to make the Budget Office activities more efficient.
