NA Deputy Karine Atshemyan Meets Representatives of Konrad Adenauer Foundation

On October 14, at the initiative of the Armenian Office of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Foundation (KAS) a meeting was held with the NA deputy Karine Atshemyan in the RA National Assembly. Representatives of the Foundation from different countries and members of the RA NA Youth Parliament attended the meeting. Let us inform that Karine Atshemyan was chosen by the Foundation as a female MP and politician distinguished with her parliamentary activities.

During the talk with the guests Karine Atshemyan presented her passed working path, the deputy's activities, the authorities reserved to her and the obligations assumed before the voters. The deputy also talked about passing from semi-presidential to parliamentary system of government, touched upon the already amended Constitution of Armenia, the peculiarities of the basic law and underlined that the main legal document of the country was a new impetus in terms of effective governance, the formation of the political new culture and more involvement of women in the political processes. The two-hour meeting went on through Q & A session. At the guests' request Karine Atshemyan has also spoken about the priorities of the foreign policy of the country and has underlined as a key direction for Armenia the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh (NK) problem through self-determination of the Artsakh people and the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Referring to the law-making work, Karine Atshemyan has noted that being a member of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport keeps at the centre of her attention the problems requiring legislative solution of the mentioned spheres.

Let us inform that Konrad Adenauer Foundation earlier expressed wish to meet with the NA deputy Karine Atshemyan and as the Head of the Project of the Armenian Office of the Foundation Liana Marukyan noted, the preliminary meeting-debates between the deputy and the Foundation served as a basis for election.
