On May 23, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received Oleksandr Pavlyuk, Senior Political Counsellor at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The guest congratulated Eduard Sharmazanov for being re-elected in the responsible post of the NA Deputy Speaker and wished him effective work.
Eduard Sharmazanov welcomed Oleksandr Pavlyuk’s regular visit to Armenia: issues of bilateral interest were discussed. The sides touched upon the RA-EU relations, regional security problems, the issue of the NK conflict settlement, the elections of the parliamentary and Yerevan Elders’ elections held in Armenia during the last months.
The NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov highlighted the development of Armenia’s relations with the EU and expressed hope that in future the pre-signed Agreement of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Expanded Partnership will be signed.
At the guest’s request, presenting the NK problem, the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov emphasized the settlement of the problem through peaceful debates within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. In this context he referred to the bellicose policy of Azerbaijan and noted that a few days ago the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs made a statement and criticized the policy of Azerbaijan in relation with the violation of the ceasefire and firing a missile across the line of contact.
“Azerbaijan should recognize the complete exercise of Artsakh people’s right to self-determination for strengthening peace and stability in the region: as Azerbaijan has not recognized that right, the problem cannot be settled,” the NA Deputy Speaker said. He has underlined that Azerbaijan refuses to carry out the agreements reached as a result of the summits held in Vienna and in Saint Petersburg after the April war and continues its adopted bellicose policy.
