On June 20, the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the RA NA delegation to PACE Arpine Hovhannisyan received the evaluators of the Council of Europe (CoE) Internal Oversight Directorate Colin Wall and Maria Goldman. The Head of the Council of Europe Office to Armenia Natalya Vutova also attended the meeting.
The guests noted that the goal of their visit was to assess the efficiency of the work by the CoE in the member states: the sphere of the fight against the corruption is in the focus of study this year.
Arpine Hovhannisyan highly assessed the cooperation with the Council of Europe in different directions and highlighted the continuity of the programmes being jointly implemented also in the parliamentary format. At the guests’ request Mrs Hovhannisyan in detail presented the reforms being made for our country in the fight against corruption, including the regulations designed by a number of laws passed by the parliament. In this context the NA Deputy Speaker emphasized the support of the international colleagues, especially the Council of Europe in effectively bringing the laws into life from the institutional viewpoint aimed at prevention of corruption.
Arpine Hovhannisyan discussed with the European colleagues numerous issues of bilateral interest, as well as referred to the reforms of the judicial-legal sphere and cooperation programmes.
