On September 19, the Head of the RA National Assembly Armenia-Romania Friendship Group Vahram Baghdasaryan met with the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Armenia in the Romanian Parliament, the Chairman of the Armenian Union of Romania Varujan Vosganian and the Member of Parliament of Romania Lucian-Eduard Simion (Sargissian).
The RA NA deputy Gagik Melikyan, the members of Armenia-Romania Group Samvel Farmanyan and Ruzanna Muradyan took part in the meeting.
Vahram Baghdasaryan highly assessed the Armenian-Romanian political relations, emphasizing the development of the mutually beneficial ties in all spheres. He underlined the importance of the inter-parliamentary relations, which in its turn would promote the development of other spheres.
Vahram Baghdasaryan touched upon the activities of one of the oldest Armenian communities of Europe, the Armenian community of Romania, and noted that the Armenian community has still things to do on the adoption and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, as well as on the recognition of the right to self-determination of Nagorno Karabakh people.
Thanking the MPs of Armenia for the meeting, the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Armenia in the Romanian Parliament, the Chairman of the Armenian Union of Romania Varujan Vosganian has noted that the authorities of Romania assess the role and importance of the Armenian community, giving an opportunity to it best conditions of activities. Varujan Vosganian has informed that the Armenian community of Romania has problems of preservation of culture, knowledge of the Armenian language and books.
The members of Armenia-Romania Friendship Group expressed readiness to support them for the solution of the abovementioned problems.
During the meeting both sides also touched upon other issues.
