On February 16, the RA NA President Ara Babloyan received Manabu Horii, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Ara Babloyan noted that the Armenian-Japanese relations had been developed and expanded in the last years.
The Head of the parliament highlighted the role of the inter-parliamentary ties, especially the active cooperation of the parliamentary Friendship Groups in the development of the Armenian-Japanese bilateral relations. In this context the RA NA President considered necessary the parliamentarians’ mutual visits and the exchange of experience.
Ara Babloyan highly assessed the balanced position of Japan in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The President of the National Assembly expressed his gratitude to the government of Japan for supporting our country and implementing assistance programmes for many years.
The RA NA President expressed readiness to promote the implementation of the Armenian-Japanese joint programmes from now on.
Thanking for the warm reception, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Manabu Horii expressed hope that his visit would be a new impetus for further development and deepening of the two countries’ relations. Highly assessing the level of the relations existing between Japan and Armenia, he has documented that Armenia is one of the important counterparts of Japan. Underlining the role of the activities of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups of the two countries, Manabu Horii expressed willingness to contribute to the deepening of the inter-state relations.
At the meeting the steps aimed at strengthening of cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural spheres and other issues of bilateral interest were discussed.
