On April 3, the President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received Stephen Nix, Regional Program Director of the International Republican Institute (IRI).
Evaluating the activity of the structure, the Head of the legislative body highly assessed his role in the support for the democratic processes. Ararat Mirzoyan expressed readiness for further cooperation with the International Republican Institute, underlining the necessity of the formation of the new agenda for the programs to be implemented.
The Head of the parliament has presented the policy of the reforms adopted after the national last extraordinary elections, the peculiarities of the functions of Armenia’s legislative body that passed into parliamentary government, the steps which are directed to the strengthening the capabilities of the National Assembly, deputies and the Staff and the rise of the work efficiency.
Stephen Nix congratulated Ararat Mirzoyan for being elected President and for free, fair, transparent and democratic elections held in Armenia. According to him, the International Republican Institute is ready to support the deepening of the democratic processes in our country, the development of the capabilities of the National Assembly, as well as the programs aimed at the rapprochement of parliament-society connection.
The interlocutors underlined the importance of the study of the parliamentary international experience, holding of the training courses and the organization of the cognitive visits and touched upon the steps taken for the transparency of the parliament activity.
