On October 7, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Iraq Friendship Group Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and the member of the Group Rustam Bakoyan met with the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the RA Ezzaddin Rashed Haji.

Hovhannes Hovhannisyan in detail the situation created because of the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression along the whole line of contact. The Head of the Friendship Group talked about the deliberate targeting of the peaceful population and the civilian infrastructures of Armenia and Artsakh, noting that the armed forces of Azerbaijan included the mercenary terrorists through Turkey in the military actions. He has noted that without withdrawal of those destabilizing forces it is not possible to restore the security of the region.

Ezzaddin Rashed Haji thanked Hovhannes Hovhannisyan for thoroughly presenting the situation, underlining his concern related to the continuing military actions.

It has been noted that the wish of the Iraqi Government is to find solutions regulating the conflict through peaceful negotiations.

According to Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the peoples of Armenia and Iraq have historical and crucial: they have survived genocide. He has stated that the events happened in Iraq have been at the centre of Armenia’s attention, and the Armenian society has admitted with great pain the human losses, as well as the facts of cultural heritage destruction, He has underscored that today the people of Artsakh are in the same situation.

Rustam Bakoyan has informed that because of the Azerbaijani aggression cities are shelled, historical-cultural centres and monuments are destroyed, and peaceful residents died.

He stressed that the world community, that the world community, including also Iraq, should condemn the violence against the peaceful population. It has been noted that the Armenian side also expects a statement denouncing the Azerbaijani aggression.
