On October 9, by the decision of the RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, according to Article 100 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and Article 41 of the Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, at the initiative of the Government convened an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly by the initiator’s established agenda.

The MPs made a decision on the special procedure of the debate of the agenda item of the extraordinary sitting.

The RA Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan presented for debate to the parliament the package of the draft laws on Making Addenda to the RA Code on Administrative Offences, on Making Addenda to the RA Criminal Code, on Making Addendum to the RA Administrative Procedure Code and on Making Addendum to the RA Criminal Procedure Code presented by the Government.

Taron Simonyan has presented the viewpoint of the RA NA Bright Armenia Faction and noted that some provisions in the legislative package are controversial and need to be specified.

Andranik Kocharyan delivered a speech on behalf of My Step Faction.

In his final speech the Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan answered to the MPs’ questions and concerns.

The deputy of the RA NA My Step Faction Assyrian by his origin Arsen Mikhaylov in his speech has informed that in this hard moment, as always, the Assyrian community is next to the Armenian people. “The Assyrian community of the whole world raised its voice and backed the Armenian people in these difficult days. We are always united, we will be united and we shall win,” Arsen Mikhaylov said. The MP also informed that 6.000 USD had been transferred to Hayastan All Armenian Fund for the needs of the Artsakh people and soldiers by the Assyrian communities of Armenia and Russia.

Afterwards the parliament debated the draft law on Making Addendum and Amendments to the RA Labor Code authored by the RA NA My Step Faction.

In his co-report the RA First Deputy of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan emphasized the necessity of the draft law.

In their speeches the MPs also voiced positive assessments on the presented draft law.

The MPs passed the debated items in the first reading.

Let us note that the debate of the draft law in the second reading will be organized in the first reading within 24 hours. Three hours were fixed for presenting the proposals in written form on the initiative and the endorsement of the Head Committee.
