At May 4 regular sitting, the Parliament debated the draft law Designing Amendments to the RA Criminal Procedure Code authored by the deputies Nikolay Baghdasaryan, Vahagn Hovakimyan and Viktor Yengibaryan.
The initiative removes the aim of arrest from the concept of arrest. The amendments clarify the defendant’s types of arrest who is free and who has violated the conditions of measure of restraint. “After the adoption of the draft law, making an arrest cannot last longer than 36 hours pursuant to Articles 130 and 131. It is 72 hours by the current procedure,” Nikolay Baghdasaryan informed.
The endorsement of the NA Standing (Head) Committee on State and Legal Affairs presented the member of the committee Sergey Atomyan. According to him, after the amendments drawing up protocols of arrest will be specified.
In his co-report, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Armen Hovhannisyan noted that the draft law was revised on the basis of the proposals of the Government.
