Exhibition Dedicated to Saint Sargis Holiday
1 / 5

The National Assembly within the framework of its cultural events traditionally refers to the Armenian holidays. This time on the occasion of the Saint Sargis holiday the guests of the National Assembly were little painters of the Aesthetic National Centre. About 40 works of 30 participants of the exhibition organized on January 30 presented the Armenian churches with the name of the saint, paintings of the Armenian saints and specific reproductions of Saint Sargis character. The students of the Aesthetic National Centre present their works in the National Assembly for the second time. In their words, besides the fact that presenting their works in the hospitable National Assembly is a great honour for them, it is also very big responsibility, as the Speaker of the National repeatedly noted that the children will build our future, and their desires and goals expressed in the language of art should become a programme of activity for us.

Welcoming those present RA NA Speaker Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan noted that Saint Sargis holiday is one of the most beautiful and most beloved holidays. Besides church ceremonies, the holiday also has a series of beautiful folk ceremonies. “Our history and religion contain rich material expressing the beauty of life. When I was of your age this holiday was not marked. And today we shall note with joy that our church gives us occasions of seeing that beauty,” the NA Speaker mentioned.

The NA Speaker especially stressed that our people’s strength is in our art and science, and these children should be properly encouraged, so that new masterpieces would be born. In his word, all the works of the children of the Aesthetic National Centre are wonderful, simply marvellous. From the exhibition Mr. Abrahamyan separated one painting Seda Avagyan’s Saint Sargis . He noted that this painting he would present through hayland.am to our 75.000 compatriots, who are included in the network throughout the world. Hayland is the house of the Armenians of the whole world. Here, in this network, we contact without any hour zones and geographical obstacles, without any appointed meetings. I am glad for the opportunity of contacting with my compatriots through this network. I am glad that you follow the ongoing political, economic and cultural events of our country,” the NA Speaker said.

And the author of the painting in her turn gave a surprise to Mr. Abrahamyan, presenting him her Saint Sargis painting with a wish that Saint Sargis will be the NA Speaker’s patron saint in his all endeavours. All participants of the exhibition received congratulatory cards with their paintings from Mr. Abrahamyan.
