On June 1, the RA NA Deputy Speaker received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to Armenia Gonzalo Urriolabeitia.

Welcoming the Ambassador in the parliament Eduard Sharmazanov, as Head of Armenia-Argentina Parliamentary Friendship Group, highlighted the activities of the parliaments, as well as the Friendship Groups of the two countries in the development and deepening of bilateral relations. Eduard Sharmazanov has underlined the importance of the mutual visits, noting that Argentina is a key state in Latin America, and a friendly state for Armenia.

In the RA NA Deputy Speaker’s word, we should preserve the traditional friendly relations with the countries, with which the Christian common values and the existence of the Armenian community of Argentina unite us.

Eduard Sharmazanov emphasized the role of Argentina in the process of the Armenian Genocide recognition.

Touching upon the regional problems he noted: “It is desirable that the Parliament of Argentina will have a complete perception on our region and will have a picture that Azerbaijan is a serious threat in the South Caucasus.”

Eduard Sharmazanov in his and in the name of the Friendship Group expressed readiness to make all efforts for the sake of deepening of relations and the development of cooperation of the two countries.

Gonzalo Urriolabeitia, thanking Eduard Sharmazanov for the reception, has noted that the opportunities of developing the relations of the two countries are big. He has assured that other numerous issues of strategic, economic and bilateral interest are at the centre of attention of Argentina’s authorities.
