On January 31, the President of the House of Councillors (Upper Chamber) of the National Diet of Japan Date Chuichi received the parliamentary delegation led by the President of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan. Discussing the level of the parliamentary cooperation of the two countries, the sides documented that the cooperation in that format will deepen the Armenian-Japanese friendly relations, creating new opportunities for the two countries. The steps aimed at strengthening of the cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural spheres, as well as the development of tourism were particularly highlighted. Date Chuichi expressed his gratitude for Armenia’s support in elimination of consequences of the disastrous earthquake occurred in Japan. He has opined that the cooperation of the two countries will also further develop in the sphere of prevention of emergency situations and implementation of the joint works directed to the elimination of its consequences, taking into consideration the fact that Japan and Armenia realize the disastrous consequences of the earthquake.

The Head of the RA Parliament expressed his gratitude to Japan for numerous supports  provided to the Republic of Armenia and for jointly implemented programmes.

The parties also discussed the concrete programmes aimed at the cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries and many other issues.
