On January 16, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by the Chair of the Defense Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and the Vice-President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Dr. Ali Rashid AlNuaimi.
Welcoming the guest, the NA President noted that the UAE is one of the reliable and important partners of Armenia, and the results of the political dialogue at high level, the friendly relations and dynamic cooperation established between our countries are evident.
According to the results of 2023, the United Arab Emirates is the second biggest trade partner of Armenia. In 2023, the volume of trade surpassed 2 billion USD.
Alen Simonyan expressed confidence that the bilateral trade potential is not exhausted, and assured Dr. Ali Rashid AlNuaimi that the Government of the Republic of Armenia is ready to support boosting that process.
An agreement was reached to expand the institutional bases of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations through signing an Agreement on Cooperation.
Touching upon the current security situation in the South Caucasus and the efforts made by the Armenian side to reach peace and stability in the region, the Head of Parliament underlined that Armenia adopted agenda for peace and presented the Crossroads of Peace project.
A number of issues regarding the comprehensive economic cooperation between the two countries also were discussed.
