On February 22, the members of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs met with Teresa Albano, Coordinator of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities.
The OSCE designs to implement a programme in the marzes (regions) of Armenia on two-year term, and its goal is to support the women in vulnerable condition to implement economic activities. Within the framework of the programme they will help the women’s resource centres created by the support of the OSCE in the marzes. Teresa Albano has underlined that the needs of the NGOs, Resource Centres and social workers and will support the improvement of the services cooperating with the government.
Teresa Albano has noted that she will visit the Syunik Marz to have meetings with concerned sides. A report was made and a training course will be held in the future.
The Committee Chair has highlighted the OSCE activities in Armenia, noting that though the OSCE Office has been closed in our country, but the implementation of the programmes is underway. According to Narek Zeynalyan, the women’s involvement in all spheres is evaluated by the state, and its vivid example is the increase of the women’s number in the parliament of the seventh convocation. The Committee Chair considered important the women’s participation in the implementation of the economic activities especially in the marzes. He has assured that the Committee would support the implementation of the programme in all possible directions.
