The legislative initiative authored by the NA deputy Gevorg Papoyan will ban to have audiovisual media in the multiplex, the names of which cannot be like the names or trademarks will be identical
or be alike of confusion degree with the names of the trademarks or companies being engaged with gambling games, internet winning games or lotteries in the last ten years.
According to the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gevorg Papoyan, after 6 months of the adoption of the draft, similar radio or TV companies will be obliged to change their names. The Committee Chair underlined that the initiative is connected with the commitment of their faction to fight against gambling.
The package of the draft laws on Audiovisual Media and on Advertisement was debated in the second reading during the NA extraordinary session on December 20.
The member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sporthasmik Hakobyan underscored that by the initiative the media is not closed, but it changes its name.
The RA Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Avet Poghosyan presented the positive viewpoint of the Government related to the issue.
In his speech the NA deputy Sergey Bagratyan, highlighting the legislative initiative, noted that it is time to fight and save our youth from the gambling.
Addressing the compatriots, the NA President Alen Simonyan noted that the Civil Contract Party is fulfilling its commitment before the voters till the end, “The National Assembly prohibited the activity of the bookmakers’ offices, which were widely in the Republic of Armenia, restricted the advertisements in the streets, banned the advertisement in TV companies, on the websites, and now the parliament will vote that there will not be even the disguised advertisement in the audiovisual media names,” he said.
