On December 11, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the Head of the Delegation of France to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Bertrand Bouyx. The Head of the RA NA delegation to PACE Ruben Rubinyan also attended the meeting.
Welcoming the guest, the RA NA President highly appreciated the warm relations and effective cooperation established between our two delegations. Alen Simonyan thanked the France-Armenia Friendship Group comprised of also 97 deputies (its active member is also Bertrand Bouyx) for pro-Armenia activities.
The interlocutors touched upon the RA-EU deepening and strengthening relations, the dialogue on the entry visa liberalization between Armenia and the European Union, the possibilities of activation of bilateral economic ties, the steadily implementation of the ongoing democratic processes in Armenia. According to Bertrand Bouyx, it is inspiring that despite the difficult events that took place that took part in Armenia, democracy is firm and visible. The Head of the Delegation of France to PACE considered as an important step the ratification of the Rome Statute by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Speaking about the regional challenges, the sides exchanged ideas on the procedure of the negotiations over the Peace Treaty to be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the immediate return of the Armenian captives being held in Azerbaijan and on the normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations.
The guest of France reaffirmed that France is faithful to the Armenian-French friendship and at this moment is next to Armenia.
