1 / 14

The RA NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, with the support of the International Republican Institute (IRI), organized a discussion for the MPs on June 18, dedicated to the discussion of the RA employment strategy draft for 2024-2030.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan stated that the document was debated several times both in the Committee and during the work debates organized by the executive body. According to Heriknaz Tigranyan, the document is currently officially in the executive body, in circulation, and is almost complete with the latest amendments. After this work debate, within 15 days, the MPs can present their proposals to the Committee or the executive body.

According to the RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan, the document is a policy vision with clear definitions, standards and format. It is the document not only of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, but also of the Government, on which the employees of a number of Ministries worked.

According to him, the feature of the RA employment strategy project is that it has been discussed for a long time both in Armenia and outside Armenia, involving experts from the International Labour Organization, the World Bank, and other international and local structures. According to the Deputy Minister, the document is aimed not only at solving the problem of the narrow perception of employment, but also at the development of the economy.

The IRI Armenia Resident Programme Director James DeWitt informed that the discussion was organized within the framework of the programme Strengthening Electoral Processes and Political Accountability of the IRI. “We give priority to interdepartmental cooperation, communication, inclusive participatory policy development. The International Republican Institute is happy to support the discussion of the Employment Strategy programme, which is an important strategic document for the country. I would also like to thank the Parliament and the Ministry for the effective cooperation,” James DeWitt said.

The representatives of Ameria CJSC and Civitta Armenia Tigran Jrbashyan and Sevak Hovhannisyan presented the draft of the RA employment strategy for 2024-2030 and answered the MPs’ questions.
