Delegation led by Hakob Arshakyan is on an official visit in Beijing

At the invitation of the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Representatives of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Lou Qinjian, the Head of the China-Armenia Friendship Group the delegation led by the RA NA Vice President, the Head of the Armenia-China Friendship Group Hakob Arshakyan is on an official visit in Beijing.

The deputies of the RA NA Civil Contract Faction Andranik Kocharyan, Lena Nazaryan, Taguhi Ghazaryan, Hayk Tsirunyan and the deputy of the Armenia Faction Gegham Nazaryan are in the delegation.

On June 19, the delegation led by the NA Vice President met with the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress of the PRC People’s Representatives Shohrat Zakir.

Hakob Arshakyan noted that the Republic of Armenia observes the relations with China as one of the important priorities of its foreign policy, which is included in the RA Government programme for 2021-2026.

The NA Vice President noted that the Armenian-Chinese trade-economic cooperation is developing at a high pace.

Issues on efficiency of cooperation for developing road construction, energy high technologies development were discussed.

The NA Vice President welcomed the active involvement of the PRC in the development of the South Caucasus, which has a positive influence also on the stability and security of our region.

He underscored that Armenia remains faithful to the One China principle.

It was recorded that the Chinese companies show interest to participate in the infrastructural programnmes of the most important significance, including the international competitive, as well as the investment for the development of economy of Armenia.

The Chinese companies are actively engaged in the big projects being implemented in the Republic of Armenia, as the construction of the North-South highway and Kaps reservoir.

The NA Vice President noted that the North-South highway is vital importance for Armenia, it is part of the concept of the Crossroads of Peace initiated by the RA Government. Both sides underlined the importance of the Crossroads of Peace and One Belt, One Road initiatives and raised their common points.

Hakob Arshakyan mentioned that Armenia strives expanding its participation in the regional structures of multi-lateral cooperation. From this viewpoint the necessity of qualitative development within the framework of Shanghai cooperation organization was singled out.

At the meeting the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and the regional developments, the agreements reached on the delimitation and demarcation being carried out on the basis Alma-Ata declaration.

“Long-term peace is necessary for our region. The agenda for peace in our region has no alternative. The honouring of the principles of international right, regional integrity and sovereignty serve as an important basis for establishing it,” the NA Vice President mentioned.

Speaking about the necessity of the establishment of long-term peace in our region, he noted that China respects the territorial integrity, the sovereignty and independence of Armenia, as well as the right of making independent decisions in the foreign relations.

Shohrat Zakir offered his condolences on natural disaster happened in Lori and Tavush regions of Armenia recently, and expressed the support of China in the recovery of the disaster zone.

The Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress highlighted the development of the friendly relations between China and Armenia, noting that additional efforts will be made to more develop the existing relations.

The RA NA Vice President expressed his gratitude for the invitation and warm reception, underlining the friendly ties between the two countries, the cultural and spiritual values, the necessity of expanding the cooperation in all spheres of mutual interest for the states.
