On November 28 the sitting of the Ad-hoc Inquiry Committee into the Events Occurred on 1-2 March 2008 in Yerevan and Their Reasons was held, presided by the Committee Chairman Mr Samvel Nikoyan.
At the beginning of the sitting Mr Nikoyan said that on November 27 the lieutenant colonel of the Internal Troops Mr Artur Sirekanyan was invited. He gave details about the use of the special means by the police on March 1-2. In Mr Nikoyan’s word, the committee hasn’t received answers to all concerning questions, so they will touch upon this question.
Referring to the second issue of the agenda Mr Nikoyan noted that six citizens of Armenia provided a video material to the committee concerning the March 1-2 events, with enclosed document, where it said that by sending the facts they hoped that the committee would make the law-enforcement bodies to have the existing proof in the video material a subject of discussion and accessible to the people. Mr Nikoyan noted that the committee referred to the provided all materials with the same principle and considered expedient to discuss the received video material, too. There were mainly episodes from the March 1-2 events in the videocassette, and the phone tappings of the opposition leaders, in particular Mr Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Mr Alexander Arzumanyan, Mr Nikol Pashinyan and Mr Suren Sirunyan, which were done on March 1-2.
It was decided to organize a discussion after listening to all phone tappings, and it was proposed to invite the opposition leaders, too.
