Touching upon the perspectives of Eurasian cooperation, the guests indicated the possibilities that will be created by the development of regional cooperation and will be realized by the CIS countries due to common interests and goals. Mher Simonyan said that the delegation would take part at the roundtable in the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University and will discuss several programmes.
Welcoming the delegation’s visit to the parliament Artak Davtyan has noted that in Armenia the issue of Eurasian integration is regularly discussed, and it is at the center of attention of political forces.
The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations noticed that if the idea of the Eurasian integration was still perceived as a novelty in Armenia, then our friendly relations with the Russian Federation had not only a history of long years, but also they were of strategic importance. The programmes of economic cooperation were highlighted, it was underlined that the steps aimed at economic integration had always been welcomed in Armenia. In Artak Zakaryan’s word, in the existing situation in South Caucasus we should be able to find solutions for stable and peaceful development through bilateral and multilateral, multi-vector cooperation. On the other hand, the modern world is full of different challenges, which is not possible to overcome alone, thus all the ways of integration get importance. In his opinion, the cooperation over Eurasian integration can give wider opportunities to Armenia for developing the existing strategic relations with the Russian Federation and especially in terms of strengthening the economic ties.
In his word, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, highlighted the Eurasian cooperation as a platform of solution of common problems. Artak Davtyan expressed conviction that similar visits and discussions will greatly promote the effectiveness of the process.
The Armenian MPs thanked the guests for thoroughly answering a number of raised questions.
