On December 25 the RA NA Speaker, the Chairman of the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE) Hovik Abrahamyan took part in the ASUE Council sitting.

Opening the sitting the RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan informed the attendees that the items on the results of the educational and financial-economic activities of the ASUE for 2013 and the main indices of the 2014 draft budget, and on amending the ASUE organizational structure, were included in the agenda.

The ASUE President, Doctor of Economics, professor Koryun Atoyan introduced the work done in the University, the budgetary allocations, the international cooperation programmes, the scientific-research activity of the University and the fulfilled modernizing works. Mr Atoyan also presented the suggested changes in the ASUE and their substantiations.

The RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan delivered a speech. He has noted that the Armenian State University of Economics occupies its unique place in the scientific-educational system of the republic. By Mr Abrahamyan’s evaluation it is good that the leadership of the university makes all efforts to strengthen the gained achievements for integrating to the international educational system and preparing high qualified specialists. According to the Head of the Parliament, all this will greatly promote the rise of authority and competitiveness of the educational institution in the international arena.

Hovik Abrahamyan noted that Professor Koryun Atoyan’s comprehensive report for 2013 witnessed to the fact that the year was significant in the institution in terms of the works done. The NA Speaker noted that the reporting year was marked by the opening of Amberd Research Centre, equipped with newest technology and furniture, which would have its invaluable contribution to the developing scientific-research activity of the University. He has also highlighted the social package functioning since the new educational year, which is aimed at supporting the socially vulnerable students having excellent marks.

By the assessment of the Head of the Parliament, the University has also recorded progress on the path of internalization, winning four more Tempus programmes. A big number of students from abroad study in the University, the conditions of the building have been improved and a favourable environment for the education has been created.

Hovik Abrahamyan has touched upon a number of problems, noting that today the training of scientific-pedagogical resources is prior.

Hovik Abrahamyan has noted that considerable means has been allocated for the implementation of the research works of the University, the creation of the International Educational Programme Centre equipped with the newest technology, as well as for the repair and refurbishment of more than a dozen auditoriums.The NA Speaker proposed the leadership of the University to submit the draft budget of the institution in programme format. Mr Abrahamyan offered to evaluate the results of the budget execution of the University sufficient and expressed hope that the means envisaged by the budget for 2014 would serve for the solution of the problems in the institution.

By the recommendation of the RA NA Speaker, the ASUE Chairman Hovik Abrahamyan the items included in the agenda were put for voting and were unanimously adopted by the Council.

Taking the advantage the RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan congratulated everybody on the occasion of the New Year and Christmas, wished them happiness and success. He has expressed wish that the ASUE would further raise its authority, and the University has the potential and opportunity. The NA Speaker wished peace to our country and the people and our compatriots of Artsakh. He has noted that he sees the solution of the problems our country faces in solidarity, tolerance and unity.

After exhausting the agenda the Council of the Armenian State University of Economics ended its works.

Let us note that before the Council sitting the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan took a tour in the newly created Amberd Research Centre and in the completely repaired canteen.
