NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan Meets Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China

On February 16, the RA NA Vice President, the Head of the NA Armenia-China Friendship Group Hakob Arshakyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Yong Fan. The member of Armenia-China Friendship Group Babken Tunyan took part in the meeting.

Hakob Arshakyan underlined that China is one of the important partners of Armenia and added the historical friendship between the two peoples and the relations between the states multi-laterally develop. Within the framework of cooperation, the NA Vice President underlined the role of the inter-parliamentary cooperation and particularly, the practical significance of the Friendship Group.

Regarding the blockade of the Lachin Corridor and the humanitarian consequences caused because of it, the NA Vice President reminded that such step contradicts the fulfillment of the obligations assumed by trilateral statement of November 9, and it shall be distinctly and targeted condemned by the international partners.

The Ambassador highlighted the regulation of the problem through peaceful and diplomatic way. He noted that they are ready to support solving the issue with the international organizations.

As Acting Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan referred to the economic cooperation and spoke about the importance of making investments in Armenia by the Chinese business community. The MP reminded that this year economic high growth and activation of capital programmes is designed. Babken Tunyan considered necessary the specification of the further activities and having preliminary roadmap of the upcoming actions.

A reference was made to the work of the Friendship Groups at parliamentary level, which will promote the development of cooperation existing in different spheres.

During the meeting the PRC Ambassador highlighted the activation of parliamentary contacts, taking into consideration the fact that the restrictions connected with the prevention of coronavirus spreading were mitigated in China.

As Head of NA Armenia-China Friendship Group, Hakob Arshakyan expressed readiness to make maximum efforts on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
