On March 9, the regular sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport moderated by Artak Davtyan was held.

During the sitting the legislative package On Amending the RA Law on Higher and Post-graduate Professional Education and On Amending the RA Law on Education authored by the NA deputy Tevan Poghosyan was debated and it will be included in the draft law of the NA spring session agenda.

Afterwards, the Committee touched upon the draft law On Amending the RA Law on Television and Radio authored by the NA deputy Tigran Urikhanyan.

The Committee members, giving preference to the screening of the films dubbed into Armenian, also referred to the possible consequences of passing this draft law. After stormy debates the draft law did not get endorsement.

The draft law On Amending the RA Law on Education authored by a group of NA deputies was debated in the second reading. The draft law will be included in the draft law of the agenda of the NA upcoming four-day sittings.

The draft law On Amending the RA Law on Higher and Post-graduate Professional Education being considered in the second reading will be included with the endorsement of the Committee in the draft law of the agenda of the NA four-day sittings.

At the end of the sitting the Committee made a decision to hold parliamentary hearings on the theme “Science State Committee of the RA Ministry of Education and Science: Activities and Perspective Programmes” on March 21.
